How ForestForay Kids keeps outdoor screen time safe, educational, and fun.

How do the scavenger hunts work?
Kids get visual lists of natural items to spot in your backyard or local park (like an acorn, an oak leaf, a snail, or a wildflower). When they spot an item, they snap a photo to unlock a digital sticker badge and earn points in their Bio-Dex album.
Is the app really 100% ad-free?
Yes. ForestForay Kids has zero ads, no sponsored pop-ups, and no behavioral tracking. You won't have to worry about your child seeing commercials or being targeted by advertisers.
Does ForestForay track my child's location?
No. The Kids app never requests or collects GPS location coordinates. Photos taken by children are processed in memory and are never uploaded or shared to public feeds.
How does the app warn kids about dangerous plants or bugs?
If an organism could cause a rash or sting (such as poison ivy, stinging nettle, or wasps), the app shows a friendly 'Caution! Ask a Parent' warning reminding children to look with their eyes and avoid touching.
Can kids use it without Wi-Fi or cell service?
Yes. All species trivia and badge checklists work completely offline so your kids can use the app on remote camping trips, mountain trails, or backyard spots with no signal.

We believe children's exploration should be secure. We built ForestForay Kids with strict privacy guardrails.

  • No Location Tracking: The Kids app never requests GPS or device location. Regional context for species identification is determined server-side using approximate IP geolocation only — no device location data is ever collected.
  • No External Data Sharing: The Kids app has no Wikipedia or external API access. All species facts are pre-cached locally on the device to prevent third-party data tracking.
  • No Analytics or Ad SDKs: Contains zero Google Analytics, behavioral tracking, or targeted ad networks. The app is 100% ad-free.
  • Privacy-First Image Storage: Cloud scanning photos are processed in memory and deleted instantly. No photos taken by children are stored permanently on our servers.
